Toni & Guy is to launch Strength in Style, a new partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support that will see the chain become a pivotal partner in Macmillan's work to improve the lives of everyone affected by cancer in the UK.
Macmillan and Toni & Guy will develop a training programme to ensure people affected by cancer will have access to a salon in their area where a trained professional will be able to provide specialist support and advice on hair care.
Commented Toni Mascolo: "With over two million people living with cancer in the UK, Toni & Guy has the opportunity to have a huge impact on people's lives. Providing expert care for someone undergoing cancer treatment is something the entire company is passionate to support.'
The training course is due to launch nationwide by March 2010 and will cover everything a stylist needs to know about speaking to people affected by cancer, the effects of treatment on hair and wig styling and cutting.
1 in 3 of us will get cancer. Two million people in the UK are living with it. From March 2010, TONI&GUY and Macmillan will be working in partnership to improve the lives of people affected by cancer through fundraising and Strength in Style - a training programme for TONI&GUY and Essensuals salons to offer expert hair care for people affected by cancer.
Available from Spring 2010 in selected TONI&GUY and essensuals salons nationwide, Strength in Style salons will provide specialist support and advice on hair care for people affected by cancer. Selected hair stylists will be trained in the effects of treatment on hair, helping clients with choosing, fitting, adjusting and cutting wigs, and advice on re-growth hair so that people affected by cancer can have one point of contact to help them deal with hair loss and re-growth throughout their cancer journey.
